11.1.0.7 installer java version issue with AIX power 7 hardware.

11.1.0.7 patch install on AIX 6.1 os level and POWER 7 hardware has an issue with the installer java version.

When the installer is launched from the patch directory, it crashes with a java dump.

TSM – DSMC BACKUP AND RESTORE COMMANDS

To query the management aliases used by Storage team –

dsmc q mgmt

One of the parameters in place is

MgmtClass Name : RET7YRS
Description : Retain Archive for 7 years

Retain backups for 7 years.

dsmc archive -archmc=RET7YRS -description=”test_backup”
“/ora_export_2/backup/u01/*.*” -su=yes >> test_copy.logs

Once backup is completed….

dsmc query archive -description=”testfin_backup”
“/ora_export_2/backup/u01/*.*” -su=yes >> testfin_archive.logs

view testfin_archive.logs

DEINSTALL OF ORACLE HOME IN 11.2.0.2 .

In 11.2.0.2 , there is a new directory created when you install the binaries called deinstall.

You cannot deinstall an ORACLE_HOME using the GUI option anymore.

To deinstall the current ORACLE_HOME –

export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/product/11.2.0.2

cd $ORACLE_HOME/deinstall

adrd:/u01/oracle/product/11.2.0.2/deinstall> ./deinstall

Delete directory ‘/u01/oracle/product/11.2.0.2’ on the local node : Failed <<<< ….no problem – delete it manually later.

The Oracle Base directory ‘/u01/oracle’ will not be removed on local node. The directory is in use by Oracle Home ‘/u01/oracle/product/10.2’.

The Oracle Base directory ‘/u01/oracle’ will not be removed on local node. The directory is in use by central inventory.
